Exclusive

042613_mack_ten_launchDouble beef patty, special sauce? Not for Rapper Mack 10 … who axed Big Macs (and pretty much all things cow) from his life … and lost an incredible 60 plus pounds in the process!!!

The “Westside Connection” rapper’s been HUGE since the mid-90′s … so after our photog spotted him out in L.A. last week (above) looking svelte, we contacted him to find out what’s up.

Mack tells us … he’s majorly slimmed down by cutting all red meat from his life — “I used to love to be able to order a burger or get a fat ass steak, but now I am up on eating fish, chicken and s**t.”

FYI — At his heaviest Mack was 267 and now he’s South of 200.

Mack says it’s all thanks to his kids — “I want to make sure I can keep up with them. It’s hard to eat healthy but that’s something I got to do to make my life right.”

We’ll bow down to that.

0426_erykah_badu_PCNThe late ’90s were good to Erykah Badu — she had a bunch of hits, starred in some flicks … so maybe that’s why she was rockin’ her best 1998 henna tattoos in Miami on Thursday.

The 42-year-old mother of three debuted her latest highlighted hair-tastrophe and showed off her temporarily inked up limbs while hanging out in a bikini in South Beach.

More Surgery

0426_corin_nemec_tmz_articleTurns out ’90s star “Parker Lewis” can lose … at surgery … the actor tells TMZ he had to go under the knife a SECOND time following his near-death boating accident, because the first surgery didn’t cut it.

Corin Nemec — star of “Parker Lewis Can’t Lose” — was in a horrific accident back in January, which left him with a shattered leg. Nemec had one surgery (below) earlier this year and was on the road to recovery … but the break was so extreme, it didn’t heal properly.

Nemec tells TMZ … to fix the problem, doctors had to open his leg up again in order to have his femur reamed — an intense process which involved inserting a titanium rod into his leg, followed by major grafting work. Pretty painful stuff.

Nemec says he’s trying to stay positive despite the setback — and hopes this surgery will finally fix the problem so he can move on with his life.

10 Crucial Moments In Deep Purple History

Deep Purple crucial moments

Creators of hard rock’s most recognizable riff, home to some of the best musicians to ever plug into a Marshall stack, Deep Purple are just as important to the development of early heavy metal as their more hallowed brethren Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin. Like the high speed race cars they sonically emulated, their various lineups are known to fans as Mark I, Mark II and Mark III, but the core through their golden epoch was drumming powerhouse Ian Paice, groundbreaking organist Jon Lord and tempestuous sorcerer of the Stratocaster, Ritchie Blackmore. Members went on to serve in such esteemed outfits as Rainbow, Whitesnake, Captain Beyond, Black Country Communion and even the mighty Sabbath but it’s records like In Rock and Machine Head that place them in the ranks of rock’s greatest bands. These are the 10 Most Crucial Moments In Deep Purple History.

Watch the all-new episode of Behind The Music Remastered: Deep Purple on VH1 Classic, premiering this Saturday, April 27 at 9P/8C.

10. “Hush” single
Originally written by Joe South for American singer Billy Joe Royal, this 1968 cover was Deep Purple’s first hit record and the high water mark of their Mk I line-up. Initially envisioned as the “British version of Vanilla Fudge,” the band’s first three albums failed to take off, artistically or commercially, and when Blackmore and Lord wanted to get heavier, original singer Rod Evans and bassist Nick Simper were sent packing.

9. The World’s Loudest Band
Many groups claim or have been proclaimed to be the “Loudest Band In The World” but Deep Purple were the first to be awarded the dubious honor in 1972 by the Guinness Book of World Records.  A concert at London’s Rainbow Theater was clocked at 117 decibels, loud enough to “render three members of their audience unconscious. “ Unfortunately the record wouldn’t stand, being blown away a mere three years later by The Who and is currently held by metal warriors Manowar.

Country singer George Jones dies

George Jones

US country singer George Jones, who had a string of number one songs between the 1950s and 1990s, has died aged 81.

Jones publicist, Kirt Webster, said the Grammy-winning singer was admitted to hospital for fever and irregular blood pressure and died on Friday.

Nicknamed Possum, his signature song was He Stopped Loving Her Today, a track about love and death.

He was married to Tammy Wynette between 1969 and 1975 and the pair recorded several songs together in the 1970s.

Born in Texas on 12 September 1931, Jones played guitar for tips on the streets of Beaumont as a teenager before going on to serve in the US Marine Corps.

He returned to Texas to record for the Starday label in Houston, achieving his first top ten hit in 1955 with Why Baby Why.

Known for his precise baritone and evocative voice, Jones’ first number one song, White Lightning, came in 1959, followed by Tender Years in 1961.

Country star Garth Brooks paid tribute to the singer saying: “The greatest voice to ever grace country music will never die. Jones has a place in every heart that ever loved any kind of music.”

Cocaine addiction

Jones had a string of top 10 songs during the 1960s and 1970s including If Drinkin’ Don’t Kill Me (Her Memory Will), Window Up Above, She Thinks I Still Care, Good Year for the Roses, The Race Is On.

But his battle with alcoholism and cocaine addiction frequently derailed his career and at one point his reputation for cancelling performances earned him the nickname No-Show Jones.

Having divorced his second wife in 1968, Jones married Wynette a year later. The pairing was an enormous professional success for both as they recorded and toured together, recording several tracks including We’re Gonna Hold On, Golden Ring and Near You.

However as Jones’ addiction problem worsened, so too did his marriage to Wynette, who later claimed he once came at her with a gun.

George Jones Jones was best known for his 1980 track He Stopped Loving Her Today

They divorced in 1975 but later resumed recording together. The couple’s only daughter, Tamala is also a country singer under the name Georgette Jones.

Jones recorded the track He Stopped Loving Her Today in 1980. The song, which he said was his favourite, revived a flagging career and won him the Country Music Award’s top male vocalist award in 1980 and 1981. He also earned a Grammy for best male country vocal performance.

Paying tribute to the singer on Twitter, Keith Urban said: “‏If I’m blessed enough to make it there, I look forward to you giving me the grand tour. Rest in peace George Jones!!!!!”

Singer Faith Hill wrote: “We lost one of the best voices God created this morning. Our hearts are saddened to hear that George Jones has passed away… Our thoughts and prayers are with Nancy and all of the family.”

Jones credited his fourth wife Nancy, whom he married in 1983, with helping him clean up. But in 1999 he was seriously injured after driving drunk and crashing into a bridge, leading to another period of rehabilitation.

Jones was in the middle of a US tour when he was taken into hospital. At the tour’s final date in Nashville in November, he was due to be joined by an array of country music stars including Kenny Rogers, Randy Travis, Garth Brook and rapper Kid Rock.
